Around 3,200 Boeing Jet and weapons workers begin the strike

Around 3,200 union members in Boeing Institutesies in Michigan and Illinois were strike at midnight on Monday after rejecting a company’s contract offer, said the union.

The local members of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers, who build and maintain combat airplanes, including F-15 and F/A-18 models, voted on Sunday to reject the last Boeing contract offer.

“The members of the 837 district of IAM build the aircraft and defense systems that keep our country safe,” said the general vice president of the territory of the west of IAM, Sam Cicinelli A statement.

Cicinelli added: “They deserve nothing less than a contract that maintains their safe families and recognizes their unique experience.”

Union members work at Boeing facilities in St. Loius and St. Charles, Missouri, along with Mascautah, Illinois, according to the union.

They had voted on July 27 to reject a previous 4 -year contract proposal presented by the company, said the union.

“We are disappointed that our employees rejected an offer that had an average salary growth of 40% and solved its main problem in alternative work schedules,” Boeing said A statement Sunday.

Boeing added: “We are prepared for a strike and we have fully implemented our contingency plan to ensure that our workforce that is not extends can continue supporting our clients.”
