At least 30 injured after the car is pressed in the crowd outside the place of music in Los Angeles

At least 30 people were injured after a car crossed a crowd on early Saturday in East Hollywood, Los Angeles, authorities said.

The incident took place outside the music place The Vermont, near the intersection of Santa Monica Boulevard and Vermont Avenue in East Los Angeles, around 2:00 am local time.

According to the Los Angeles Fire Department, at least seven people are in critical condition, six are in serious condition and more than a dozen were treated on the site. In total, 23 patients were transported.

Police said the driver was shot by a man after the accident. The driver’s condition is unknown and the shooter is generally.

The accident occurred after an individual was withdrawn from a nearby business, said the Los Angeles Police Department. That person allegedly led a vehicle to a crowd, according to the police.

After the vehicle was disabled, the spectators of the crowd dragged the driver out of the car and began to assault them physically, according to the police. At some point during the physical altercation, the driver was shot by a man who is still outstanding.

The reason for the accident is still under investigation, Lapd said.

The suspect that shot the driver fled the scene on foot and was last seen west directed from Vermont Avenue. The suspect is described as a Hispanic man, approximately 5 feet 9 inches high, 180 pounds, bald, with a blue shirt and possibly armed with a silver revolver, according to LAPD.

The authorities said that 124 firefighters were helping at the scene.

The crowd outside the music place included club attendees, valet assistants and food vendors of a nearby taco post, according to the Fire Department.

“LAFD is coordinating the triage and transport of the patient at this time,” authorities said in an initial statement at dawn on Saturday.

The Police Department is investigating the cause and reason of the accident.

“This is a heartbreaking tragedy,” said Los Angeles mayor Karen Bass. “I want to thank the staff of more than 100 LAFD and LAPD who responded to the scene to help save lives.”

He added: “Angelian hearts are with all the victims affected this morning; a complete investigation on what happened is underway.”
