Brad Lander, Comptroller of New York City and mayor’s candidate, arrested by ICE

Brad Lander, the Comptroller of New York City and candidate for Mayor, was arrested for the application of immigration and customs on Tuesday, according to a campaign spokesman.
Lander, a Democrat, was escorting a defendant of the Immigration Court in Manhattan on Tuesday when he was “taken by masked agents and detained by ICE,” said his spokesman for his campaign, Dora Pekec, in a statement.

“This is still developing and we are monitoring the situation closely,” Pekec added.
Lander was elected Comptroller in 2021. He is one of several candidates that are executed in the primary Democrats scheduled for June 24.
