Small rattles of the New York City area, New Jersey

A small earthquake shook some parts of the New York City area on Saturday night, according to the United States Geological Service.
The epicenter of the Magnitude 3.0 earthquake was northeast of Hasbrouck Heights, New Jersey, in Bergen County, about 10 kilometers below the surface, said the USGS.
Although the earthquake was relatively lower, there were reports of short tremors in parts of the area.

A security camera captured the moment when a family jumped confusion when he hit the earthquake. In images shared by Gabby Atshan, she and her husband, Sammy, quickly jumped from her sofa, running confused while trying to discover what caused the tremor.
“What was that?!” Gabby is heard wondering. “Did something crashed?”
Other videos showed the impact of the earthquake, including one of a dog in a cage that woke up startled by the noise, and another of a woman, who was doing her training on a floor, also surprised by the shake.
The WABC-TV reporter, to give her thousands, who lives in Hasbrouck Heights and was at home when the earthquake hit: “I felt that a car had hit the house”, and added that “there was this strong boom and the house shook.”
Miles said that she and her family immediately reviewed the windows and doors for damage. “That is what was felt, an impact,” he said. “We inspected everything and then we left. All the neighbors were already out there, asking the same question: ‘Did you feel that?'”
The community was still inspecting houses and damage buildings on Saturday night, according to thousands. From then on, no important structural injuries or problems had been reported.
In a statement published on social networks, the emergency management of New York City said that tremors may have felt in parts of New York City, but that there were no reports of injuries or damage to the city.
Xan Davidson, a USGS analyst, told ABC News that while earthquakes are relatively rare on the east coast, a magnitude 3.0 is not considered a significant earthquake.
“We wouldn’t expect much damage,” said Davidson. “I would simply be trembling.”
In April 2024, New York City and New Jersey were shaken by a rare earthquake of Magnitude of 4.8, which the authorities said it was one of the largest earthquakes on the east coast in the last century.
That earthquake focused near Whitehouse Station, New Jersey, and shook buildings from Philadelphia to New Jersey and New York City to Connecticut and Westchester, New York.
“The earthquakes happen here, but it is not something that happens frequently,” said Davidson, referring to the 2024 earthquake.
Davidson said that the broad area of people who reported feeling the earthquake on Saturday, reaching Connecticut, is not unexpected and that there was little cause of alarm.
