Texas Democrats receive an impulse from Obama for blocking the Redistribution Plan for Districts of the Republican Party

Former President Barack Obama joined a virtual meeting on Thursday with the Democrats of the House of Representatives of Texas who left the State to deny Republicans the ability to approve maps of the newly drawn Republican Congress Congress, encouraging their efforts and stress their work arrives at a critical moment in the fight against partisan gerrymandering.
ABC News is the first to inform about the meeting and its content.
“We cannot let a systematic assault on democracy occur and stay on hold, and so due to its actions, due to its courage, what you have seen is to respond to California, other states look at what they can do to compensate for this Gerrymandering of the middle of the decade,” Obama told Texas legislators while gathering in Illinois.
He continued: “I want everyone to return to be vigorized and know that they have helped lead what will be a long struggle. It will not be resolved immediately, and will ultimately require the US people who understand the bets and will realize that we cannot take our freedoms and our democracy.

The Texas representative, Gene Wu, who presides over the democratic Caucus of the State Representatives Chamber, told ABC News that they were “especially excited” with the meeting and that Obama’s participation is a proof that his actions are supported by his party “at all levels.”
“Making President Obama speak with us and supporting us is proof that when the Democrats of the Texas House of Representatives stand up and defend, we are not alone: we have the support of the Democrats at all levels that understand that when Republicans attack voting rights in Texas, they are attacking the basis of our democracy everywhere,” Wu said.
Wu said the Democrats had to celebrate the meeting virtually due to “republican threats”, which said it is a test of despair of the Governor of Texas Greg Abbott.
“The fact that we have to gather with President Obama from an unveiled place and through Zoom due to republican threats and surveillance only demonstrates how desperate Abbott and his extremist allies have become desperate,” Wu said. “They know that their racial Gerrymandering scheme is falling apart, so intimidation tactics are being used. But the support of President Obama shows that the whole country is seeing, and the Democrats of the House of Representatives of Texas will not be silenced by the thugs.”
Obama joined the call by former Attorney General Eric Holder, who presides over the National Committee of Democratic Redistites (NDRC). During the conversation, Holder updated the Caucus about the plans of his committee to retreat republican efforts to encourage other Red states to draw again the most favorable congress maps for Republicans to obtain an advantage for the intermediate parts.
The former president will continue to highlight the redistribution clashes of current districts at the end of this month when he heads a fundraising in Martha’s Vineyard organized by the NDRC.
The headline and speaker Emerita, representative Nancy Pelosi, will also attend the event, which is scheduled for August 19.
Wu said Thursday that the group could return to the State soon under two conditions: if the first special session of the Legislature is postponed on Friday and if California Democrats introduce their proposal for redistribution of districts that would compensate for the proposed Texas maps. It is likely that both instances occur on Friday.
The governor of California, Gavin Newsom, announced Thursday that he was advancing when putting the new Maps of the Congress proposed for the State on the electoral ballot in a special election of November 4 in an attempt to counteract Texas’s plans.
He said that the State Government will affirm its commitment to the California Independent Redistory Commission after the 2030 Census, “but we are asking voters that their consent makes a redistribution of half -period districts in 2026, 2028 and 2030 so that the Maps of the Congress respond to what is happening in Texas … and we will do it in a way that also affirms our desire as a state of the level Joined”. “” “.” “.” “.” “.” “.” “.” “.” “.”
The California Legislature will have to approve legislation to put the maps written on the ballot.
