The Department of Justice faces citation on Epstein’s archives for the Supervision Committee of the Representatives Chamber

A chamber supervision subcommittee voted on Wednesday to quote the Department of Justice to release Jeffrey Epstein’s archives.
The motion approved by an 8-2 vote. In particular, three republican legislators, representatives Nancy Mace, Scott Perry and Brian Jack, joined the Democrats in the subcommittee to approve the citation, challenging the republican leadership.
The president of the Chamber’s Supervision Committee, James Eat, must sign the citation before it can be officially issued, according to the rules of the Committee. Eating plans to sign the summons, said a source from the Republican Committee to ABC News.
The main Democrat of the Subcommittee, the representative Summer Lee, initially offered the motion.

The Republicans of the Committee retreated and modified the citation to also include communications by officials of the Biden Administration and the Department of Justice. These officials include Bill and Hillary Clinton, James Comey, Loretta Lynch, Eric Holder, Merrick Garland, Robert Mueller, William Barr, Jeff Sessions and Alberto Gonzales.
The representative of the member of the Supervision Classification Robert García said in a statement that the vote of the subcommittee on Wednesday “was only the first step towards responsibility, and we will continue to press for the truth.”
“Today, the supervision of the Democrats fought for transparency and responsibility in the Epstein archives and won. The Chamber Republicans did not make it easy, but the motion was finally approved to force the Department of Justice to free Epstein’s archives,” Garcia said.
The news occurs on the same day, the president of the Supervision Committee of the House of Representatives, on Wednesday issued a citation to Ghislaine Maxwell, the convicted associate of Jeffrey Epstein, so that an deposition occurs in the federal correctional institution Tallahassee on August 11.
“The facts and circumstances surrounding the cases of their and Mr. Epstein have received an immense public interest and scrutiny,” he wrote in a statement on Wednesday.
Maxwell was sentenced for sex trafficking and other positions and sentenced to 20 years in prison in 2022.
“What we are talking about here is someone who is in federal prison in appeal, so our lawyers will have to communicate with their lawyers to see if there are terms, if you wish,” he said before the citation was issued. “If there are no terms, we will get there quickly.”
The situation will be similar to eating effort to interview Jason Galanis, a former commercial partner of Hunter Biden and Devon Archer, during the political trial investigation of the then President Joe Biden.
“I did that with [Jason] Galanis, and the Democrats really offended because we would like to interview someone in prison. But now you know they are, they are everything they want to interview someone in prison, “he said.
The Committee has shown a propensity to record videos of the interviews and publish content later, as did several former Biden officials who invoked their rights of the fifth amendment earlier this summer, so it is possible that there may be a video of the deposition.
Separately, Attorney General Pam Bondi said on Monday that attached lawyer Todd Blanche will meet with Maxwell at some time in the “next few days.”
President Donald Trump said last week on his social networks platform that he had ordered the Department of Justice to “release all the testimony of the grand jury with respect to Jeffrey Epstein, subject only to the approval of the Court.”
Eating has also pointed out that the circumstances of a closed door statement in a federal prison could attract Democrats and Republicans to attend the interview.
“There will be so many members of the Congress that they will want to be in that prison,” he said. “I suppose there will be many members of the Supervision Committee in both, in both parties that will want to be there.”

A summons of Congress is a formal legal order issued by a Congress Committee or an individual that forces his testimony.
David Oscar Markus, Maxwell’s appeal lawyer, told ABC News that Maxwell “expects” to meet with Blanche and that the meeting will inform how it comes with the citation.
“Regarding the summons of the Congress, Mrs. Maxwell is giving this at the same time. She looks forward to her meeting with the Department of Justice, and that discussion will help inform how it proceeds,” he said.
Markus also responded to the comments of the president of the House of Representatives, Mike Johnson, on Wednesday questioned Maxwell’s credibility as a witness.
“If you consider to bring Ghislaine Maxwell for the testimony, it’s fine. I will observe the obvious concern, the warning that the president eats and I and we all have to tell him to tell the truth? Is it a credible witness?” Johnson told reporters.
“We understand the general concern of President Johnson (Congress must always examine the credibility of his witnesses. But in this case, those concerns are unfounded. If Mrs. Maxwell agrees to testify to Congress and not take the fifth, that remains a great if, he would sincerely testify, as he has always said and as he would with Mr. Blanche.
