On Thursday, the White House responded on Thursday Kremlin’s statements that a meeting between President Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin de Russia had agreed with a insured location.

A White House official told ABC News that an location has not been established and that President Putin must meet with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to make the meeting with Trump, something with which the Kremlin has not been willing to commit so far.

Putin’s advisor, Yuri Ushakov, said Thursday that a “meeting between Putin and Trump (will take place) in the next few days,” and added that “the work at the summit has now begun,” said the Kremlin.

Ushakov said that the special envoy of the White House, Steve Witkoff, had raised the idea of a trilateral meeting between Putin, Trump and Zelenskyy, but that the next meeting would only be between Trump and Putin, said the Kremlin.

Witkoff was in Moscow on Wednesday before Trump’s deadline for Russia to make pales with Ukraine or face severe sanctions.

“The place of the meeting between the presidents of the Russian Federation and the United States, Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump was agreed, and the Kremlin will report that later,” Ushakov said Thursday.

Although a specific location was not revealed, Ushakov suggested that Russia was “many friends who are ready to help us organize such events.”

“One of them is the president of the United Arab Emirates. I think we will decide, but it would be one of the most appropriate and quite suitable places,” said Ushakov.

Zelenskyy said Thursday that Ukraine and Europe should be part of the conversations to end the Russia-Ukraine war, which began in February 2022 when Putin’s forces invaded Ukraine.

“War is happening in Europe, and Ukraine is an integral part of Europe: we are already in negotiations on EU adhesion,” Zelenskyy wrote in an X. “Therefore, Europe must be a participant in the relevant processes.”

Zelenskyy said that Ukraine security officials, Europe and the United States would meet Thursday “to align our joint opinions.”

“Yesterday, several potential formats were also discussed for meetings at the leader level to bring peace, two bilateral and a trilateral,” he added. “Ukraine is not afraid of meetings and waits for the same brave approach on the Russian side.”

A White House official said Wednesday that a bilateral meeting between Trump and Putin could happen as soon as next week.

Trump himself was less committed when asked about the potential of a meeting between him and Putin, saying that he has “disappointed before” but that there was “very good perspective” of a summit between Putin and Zelenskyy.
