Trump’s publication occurs when several media reported during the weekend that Sweeney is registered as a Republican in Monroe County, Florida, where, according to reports, he bought a mansion in 2024.
According to publicly available voting records, ABC News was able to withdraw the voting record of a Sydney B Sweeney in Summerland Key, Florida, who registered as a Republican in the state and has the same birthday as the actress.
In a group with news reporters on Sunday, a journalist asked Trump about his thoughts about the reports that Sweeney is a registered republican.
“Ohhhhhh, now I love your ad. Is that correct, is Sydney Sweeney?” Trump said. “You would be surprised how many people are Republicans. That is what I had not known, but I’m glad you told me that if Sydney Sweeney is a registered Republican, I think his announcement is fantastic.”
The “Euphoria” actress, who has not publicly commented on her voter registration, was recently criticized for her advertising campaign “Sydney Sweeney has great jeans” for American Eagle.
The ads have a play on the words “jeans” and “genes”.
In an ad, Sweeney says: “Genes are transmitted from parents to the offspring, often determining features such as hair color, personality and even the color of the eyes. My jeans are blue,” since the camera faces their face.
In another announcement, published on the company’s social networks, Sweeney is seen cleaning a photo of itself with the motto “Sydney Sweeney has excellent genes”, with crossed “genes” to read “jeans”.

Some critics of the advertising campaign claim that it promotes eugenics, a “scientifically inaccurate theory that humans can be improved through selective populations.” according The National Institute for Human Genome Research.
Other critics say that the campaign is hypersexualized and glorifies Sweey’s physicist.
Some online commentators have also compared the ads with the controversial 1980 campaign by actress Brooke Shields for Calvin Klein. In one of those commercials, the 15 -year -old actress and model faces a pair of Calvin Klein jeans while they lie on the ground, saying in part: “The secret of life is hidden in the genetic code. Genes are fundamental to determine the characteristics of an individual and transmit these characteristics to a subsequent generation.”
A Sweeney representative did not immediately respond to the request for comments from ABC News on Monday.
He attended comment, American Eagle directed ABC News to his statement on Friday In social networksin which he said that the advertising campaign is “jeans.”
“‘Sydney Sweeney has great jeans and was always about jeans. His jeans. His story,” said the company in the statement. “We will continue to celebrate how everyone uses their jeans with confidence, in their own way. Great jeans look good in all.”
